General Description ^
History
This program first was founded under the 'Economics and Administrative Programs' as 'Tourism Management' due to the Executive Board of Turkish Universities (YOK) approval at 06.11.1987. Tourism Management program accepted students at the first time in 1988-89 academic year. In 2011, program after the new arrangement by Executive Board of Turkish Universities (YOK) became a department under the Social Vocational School. According to this new arrangement the department of Tourism and Hotel Management department established under Hotel, Accomodation and Catering Department.
Qualification Awarded
The program offers associate degree at the end of the education.
Specific Admission Requirements
The students who intend to enroll this program should be graduated from Vocational High School and take YGS. The average degree of the student and their result in YGS are taken into account during the registration. Upon their request, successful students who receive high grades at the end of their freshmen year may transfer to another university. After the completion of the two year education students may take DGS and attend to four year undergraduate programs.
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
The enrolled students should attend English prep school at their first year. If a student is able to pass proficieny exam may begin to the department directly. Besides, transfer students are exempt from classes if the content and the credit of the classes are the same.
Qualification Requirements and Regulations
After the succesful completion of the 2 year courses, proficiency exam and 60 days internship students may graduate.
Profile of The Programme
The main purpose of the program is to educate intermediary staff for the tourism sector. Program offers all the knowledge to its students on tourism and paves the way for their accomaodation in to the sector. Learning of the foreign language is crucial. On top of the one year prep school education students also take second foreign language i.e german and french (four terms and 4 hours per term. Besides, in the last year of their education students take courses on Front Office, Housekeeping, Food and Beverage Management, Lodging Management and Administration. Students also have a chance to combine their whole teocratical knowledge with practice during their internship at the end of their first year.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Students who receive a degree from this program may have hired in different departments of hotels which has 3 or more stars. Students who are graduated from our program have a chance to find a position from the beginning to the top administrative positions.
Access to Further Studies
Students who are completed the program and complete the requirements of the graduation have a right to enroll DGS. According to their score in this exam, they may attend to four year colleges and vocational schools which appeared in the exam book. They exempt from the courses that they already took during their two-year education in terms of content and credit.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Each course has two exams i.e final exam and midterm. The average depends on the ratio of the midterm is 40% and the final 60%. In addition to all, some courses assign term projects and graduation projects.
Graduation Requirements
In order to graduation from this program requirements are accomplishment all the two year courses and complete 120 AKTS, GANO (General academic grade average) should be 2.00 or above and complete the 60 days internship.

Facilities
The department has six full time academics in addition half-time staff who are professionals of the tourism sector. Courses are to be held in two amplifier, computer lab and seven classrooms. Students should take computer programs on front office. Housekeeping, food and beverage are also offer partial practice. Moreover, we offer some guidence for employment.
Key Learning Outcomes ^
1 The knowledge of tourism and tourism business.
2 Basic knowledge of accounting systems and documents at the hotels.
3 The knowledge of history and geography of Turkey and the ability of explaining these to the tourists.
4 The knowledge of manual and computerized procedures in the front officess of the hotels.
5 The knowledge of the food and beverage department in the hotels.
6 The knowledge of all applications in the housekeeping department of the hotel.
7 The knowledge of tourism and environment relationship and related environmental protection applications
8 The knowledge of good manner and ethic values, the ability of behaving accordingly.
9 The knowledge of legal rules of tourism and hospitality.
10 The ability of professional speaking in Turkish and at least two foreign languages.
11 The knowledge of the establishment of the republic and Atatürk's principles and revolutions.
12 Has a basic knowledge of economics
13 Knows to use the computer, use software packages in the computer environment can produce a solution.
14 Tourism in the field are capable of analytical thinking, solution-oriented.
