General Description ^
History
Vocational School of Technical Sciences has been established by the decision of the Council dated January 23, 1991, depending on the Rectorate of Marmara University. Electrical Program is take part of Technical Programs Department since its establishment within the school.
Qualification Awarded
The Associate's Degree in Electrical Technician is awarded to the graduates who have successfully completed all courses in the curriculum.
Specific Admission Requirements
The graduates of Vocational High School can directly register to our department. Besides, at the begining of third semester, students can make a transfer from relevant departments of other higher education institutions.
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
The rules and regulations for recognition of formal prior learning are well defined. Transfer can be made among the institutions of which equivalency is recognized by Higher Education Council. Recognition of prior non-formal and in-formal learning is at the beginning stage in Turkish Higher Education Institutions.

Qualification Requirements and Compliance to Regulations are enacted by YOK (The Council Of Higher Education) in Turkey.
Profile of The Programme
The purpose of the department is to educate technicians who can follow high-tech for the needs of private and state-owned sectors. It is provided a stimulating environment where students can manage to have information on the technological improvements and innovations within the context of university and industry co-operation. The teaching staff of our department is highly trained for the mentioned purpose.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Our graduates work for companies in the electrical, electronics and telecommunication industries, national and international companies, Radio and TV Broadcasting companies, production and marketing departments of internet services related organizations and health care industry.
Access to Further Studies
With exams DGS, Graduate students can switch to Electical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Physics, Aviation Electrical/Electronic, Control Engineering, Meteorological Engineering, Aircraft Electrical/Electronic, Astronautical Engineering.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Students must attend classes, practices and examinations. Students' attendance is followed by the Instructor concerned. One midterm examination is given during each semester. In addition to midterm examinations and other work, students are required to take a final examination. Students are given a make-up examination for any examination which they have not attended if it is accepted by the Administrative Comittee that there exist genuine and valid reasons for this. The semester grades are determined by adding fourty percent of the midterm exam and sixty percent of the final exam grade. The type and contribution of the educational activities such as reports, homeworks, quizzes or individual oral discussions, and performance in laboratory work on the assessment are announced by the instructor at the beginning of the semester. In the new assessment system which has been introduced since the academic year of 2008-2009, the semester grades are assessed through Relative Assessment System.
Graduation Requirements
To complete successfully all the requirements of registered course such as curriculum, implementation, training and internship accordance with the provisions of “Undergraduate and Bachelor Degree Education and Examination Regulations of Marmara University” and at least 2.0 grade point average.

Facilities
Department uses Circuit Analysis, Electric Machinery and Power Electronics laboratories in the Faculty of Technical Education for student’s usage . Students can benefit from department’s research facilities. In our department, there is 5 academic staff : a associate professor, 4 assistant professor and a research assistant professor. There are six laboratory classes at Vocational School of Technical Sciences.

1 The Skill of applying the basic mathematics in basic problems of their profession.
2 Have the students gain knowledge about the importance of protection and work safety in Electrical Installations.
3 Have the students gain knowledge about the Magnetic field and electric field
4 Develop the students' to show the relationships between units and conversions in the electrical measurement units.
5 The skill of solving, establishing the basic mathematical equations related to electrical machines and the electrical circuits.
6 Have the students gain knowledge about the importance of Computer technology.
7 Have the students gain knowledge about the importance of quality and standardization.
8 The skill of working in a project team on the subject
9 Develop the students’ professional and ethical responsibilities.
10 To internalize the life-long leraning principle.
11 The skill of using the basic techniques and tools for applications in their profession
12 The skill of effective oral and written Turkish communication.
13 Turkish verbal and written skills to communicate effectively; having at least one foreign language knowledge and skill of using this in professional field.
14 In the light of Ataturk's principles, to have historical information on The Republic of Turkey foundation
