General Description ^
History
Aquatic Products Program was established in 1992. Students were accepted to the program since 1993-1994 academic year. Six projects from Scientific Research Project Commission of Marmara University, one Project from TUBITAK and one Project from Ministry of Agriculture and Village Affairs were carried out. in addition, there are 3 projects from Scientific Research Project Commission of Marmara University

Specific Admission Requirements
In accordance with the results of the examination, LYS, organized by OSYM (The student selection and placement center), students can register to our department. In addition, the graduates of Gisheries Vocational High School can directly register to our department. Besides acceptance requirements mentioned above, at the beggining of third semester, students can make a transfer from relevant departments of other higher education institutions.
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
Qualification Requirements and Compliance to Regulations are enacted by YOK (The Council Of Higher Education) in Turkey.
Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Students who has successfully pass all the courses, who has done 30-work days trainee and who has successfully finish their project can graduate from our department as "Fisheries Technician"
Profile of The Programme
Students of this program has opportunity for employment both in public organization and private sector and learn; biology, principle of aquaculture, hardware of laboratory equipments, their maintenance and repair, to prepare technical report and project, to provide job security both in work place and employees.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
School leavers employ in public organization and private sector as technician, individually eith the condition of law and regulation of concerned association in aquaculture enterprise, fishing vessel and other institutions in aquaculture as technician.
Access to Further Studies
In accordance with the results of the examination, DGS, organized by OSYM (The student selection and placement center), graduate students can switch to undergraduate programs listed as below:  Fisheries engineering  Fisheries technology engineering  Agricultural engineering
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
40% of Mid-term exam and 60% final exam give grade point averages. Relative evaluation system is applied in accordance with the " Associate and Bachelor Degree Education and Examination Regulations of Marmara University”
Graduation Requirements
To complete successfully all the requirements of registered course such as curriculum, implementation, training and internship accordance with the provisions of “Associate and Bachelor Degree Education and Examination Regulations of Marmara University” and at least 2.0 grade point average.

Facilities
Aquatic Products department has one Laboratory and also can use 2 computer laboratories belongs to Computer Department. In our department, there is 5 academic staff :one professor, one associate professor, one assistant professor, one lecturer and a research assistant professor.
Key Learning Outcomes ^
1 In the light of Ataturk's principles, to have historical information on The Republic of Turkey foundation
2 Turkish verbal and written skills to communicate effectively; having at least one foreign language knowledge
3 Determination of structural, physiological and ecological characteristics of aquatic organisms.
4 Determination of feeding habituations of aquatic organisms and application of it to farming.
5 Pollution problems in aquatic envinronment both in National and International fields and to produce solution proposals.
6 To get speciality deal with learning during life time
7 To get teamwork technique both in disciplinary and İnterdisciplinary fields.
8 To get technique to concern for rules for regulations of catching of aquatic organisms and of preserving fish stocks.
9 To get technique for prevention of diseases of economic aquatic organisms.
10 To prepare a project about insallation and adminisration of enterprise to prodruce aquatic organisms.
11 Analysis of datas and comment of their results .
12 To get techique in the field of productıon of Aquarıum fish, their marketing and prophylaxis.
13 To get artifice on professional and ethic accountability to proceed job security standart and technology.
14 To determine constructive, physiological and ecological characteristics of destructive organisms in marine environment.
15 To determination of ecological conditions on growth, development, feeding production and fishing of aquatic organisms.
16 Identification and determination of biological characteristics of economically important fish species living both in marine and freshwater environments.
17 To get taxonomic and biological information of aquatic vertebrates.
