History
Vocational School of Technical Sciences has been established by the decision of the Council dated 23 January 1991, depending on the Rectorate of Marmara University. Jewellery &Jewellery Design Technology Program is take part of Technical Programs Department since its establishment within the school.
Qualification Awarded
Graduates of Jewellery & Jewellery Design take the title of Technician.Job Description of Jewellery Technician; To work at designand production departments (Casting,wax modelling,shaping,varnish,stone engraving,engraving,inlay,gold powder collectingand recycling,breaking sharp edge) of Jewellery field,Computer aided design and new model design,Research& Development,Purchasing and marketing.
Specific Admission Requirements
Students are being selected without examination.The students whose high school diploma and grades are assessed and selected by YOK are being registered to our schools.In case the quota is not filled the students may be selected from other high schools according to their preference.
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
Higher Education Institution Transfer Regulations is applied to the students who wants to do undergrduate transfer to our progrems.

Profile of The Programme
This program which has wide range of opportunities provides students with: basic principles of jewellery, to assess the structure of precious metals and mineral together with shaping of those by using jewellery tools, assembly, maintenance and repair of jewellery, to use measurement tools and devices, usage of computerized systems of CAD/CAM and designing through computers, being able to prepare technical reports, projects, learning health and safety precautions at work.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Graduates find chance of employment in : 1- Design and manufacturing firms (hand design and CAD/CAM desing) 2- firms manufacturing finished and semi-finished goods 3- vertically established firms as operations and management technicians.
Access to Further Studies
Students graduated with associate degree who score the required level at the credit transfer examination organized by OSYM (Center for Measurement, Selection and Placement) can continue to undergraduate programs at Marmara University Vocational School of Jewellery Technology and Design and Mersin University Vocational School of Jewellery Technology and Design
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
40% of Mid-term exam and 60% final exam give grade point averages. Relative evaluation system is applied in accordance with the " Associate and Bachelor Degree Education and Examination Regulations of Marmara University.
Graduation Requirements
To complete successfully all the requirements of registered course such as curriculum, implementation, training and internship accordance with the provisions of “Associate and Bachelor Degree Education and Examination Regulations of Marmara University” and at least 2.0 grade point average.

Facilities
There are Two ateliers for application of jewellery techniques which contain basic jewellery tools. There are ateliers for basic art and basic design , manufacturing and casting ,computer laboratory ,within Handicraft Department. ın our department is two academic staff; one Assoc. Professor and one Res. Asssistant
Key Learning Outcomes ^
1 Gaining three dimensional perception
2 Ability to grasp and apply basic principles and plastic elements of design
3 Ability to perceive and transform all visible objects in to design
4 Ability to mould and shape the metal using various techniques
5 Gaining ability to transform wax models of earrings, rings and necklaces into wooden forms then transform these into metal cast.
6 Develop ability to learn to assemble jewellery pieces, learn and build lock systems.
7 Ability to design jewellery using the available technology
8 Gaining ability to make bespoke and artistic jewellery
9 Gaining ability to design jewellery using various objects and transforming these designs into jewellery
10 Gaining the ability of form and structure
11 Ability to display genuine designs within framework of a single subject but of synthesis of the researches made throughout 4 midterms.
12 Theoretical art education lectures in order to alleviate culture of art and to form intellectual substructure for designs.
13 Introduction to properties and chemical properties of metals and stones used and grasping of safety principles of field applications.
14 Possess information about the establishment of Republic of Turkey in light of principles of Ataturk.
15 Ability to gain effective communication skills in Turkish and possess the knowledge of at least one foreign language.
16 Chemical properties of the metals used in jewelry promotion and granting of material information
17 Introduction to the chemical properties of the materials used in jewellery and gaining full knowledge of materials
