History
Marmara University Faculty of Education, Department of Pre-employment, This programme was opened as biennial Pre-School Teacher Programme in Training College in 1986. Since 1990 it has been training teachers as quadrennial Pre-School Teacher Programme.

Access to Further Studies
Students graduated from the programme can apply to the graduate programmes (master and doctorate ). They may be accepted depending on the test score in ALES (The Academic Personnel and Post Graduate Education Admittance Examination), ÜDS (The Foreign Language Test of the Inter Universities Council) and a verbal examination given by the academic unit.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
For the evaluation of each course, a semester-evaluation and a final examination is held and scheduled by the instructors in the relevant dates of the academic calendar. Evaluation of the semester includes a midterm exam, homeworks. Each evaluation is based on a 100 grade system and overall semester-evaluation grade has a 40% contribution to the overall score. Final examination is based on a 100 grade system and the grade contributes 60% to the overall score. No second final exams are given. Marmara University uses Relative Grading System and a grading scale of 4.00. At the end of the semester, all grades given over 100 are transferred to Relative Grading System (BDS).
Graduation Requirements
Students who have successfully completed all courses in the curriculum (240 ECTS Credits) and have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.00/4.00 may graduate. Students who have completed the first two years of their education may get a short cycle diploma. Applications for short cycle diploma do not have any deadline. Students who have succeeded in all the required courses but have a GPA of less than 2.00 are not allowed to graduate. However, these students may be given the chance of following the third and fourth year courses that they select and approve their scores and overall GPA. Students who have only one failed course prior to graduation are given a chance to enter an exam for that course. Double major diploma or minor certificate are not given to students who have not achieved to graduate from their main major. On the other hand, diploma of the main major is given even if the double major or minor certificate requirements are not fulfilled. Minor certificate can be given to students who have not fulfilled double major requirements but fulfilled the minor requirements. Turkish and English diploma suppliments are given to graduates together with their undergraduate diploma. Facilities
Marmara University Faculty of Education, Early Childhood Education 3 classrooms for our department, a computer lab, an art, a drama and a music workshop. There are two of the projection machine on classroom.
Key Learning Outcomes ^
1 Students will attain information about children’s cognitive, psycho-social, psychological, and physical properties in the preschool period.
2 Students will be able to recognize the different social sciences, such as sociology, philosophy and educational history, which support pre-school education.
3 Students will recognize the general characteristics of parents who have children in the preschool period as well as the children's needs in health, nutrition and education.
4 Students will learn about the developmental characteristics of children in the preschool period and be able to carry out implementations that support childhood development.
5 Students will be able to recognize the different basic sciences, such as science and mathematics, that support pre-school education.
6 Students will learn basic information about statistics, measurements, evaluation, and technology in order to conduct scientific research in preschool education.
7 Students will learn to recognize children who develop differently, to understand the characteristics of these children and be able to introduce special practices to support them both at home and school.
8 Children will learn to recognize the characteristics of the classroom and the school as well as the related guidance practices for children, parents and teachers.
9 Students will be able to recognize the different branches of education and general culture necessary for an educated and developed individual.
10 Students will be able to recognize children’s skills in music, arts, sports and dance and to create the proper environment for the development of the same.
11 Students will develop the ability to prepare educational materials and curricula that support parents, schools and teachers during the preschool period.
12 Students will develop the ability to determine, select and practice proper teaching strategies, methods and techniques to support activities that are in keeping with the aims of preschool education.
13 Students will develop the independent action, critical thinking skills, initiative, creative skills and responsiblity in group activities.
14 Students will be able to create preschool educational environments, follow technological developments and apply these in the classrooms.
15 Students will be able to recognize proper educational environments for parents, teachers, school administrators and inspectors, and to apply these.
