Ataturk Education Faculty, Turkey's oldest / established is teacher training institution. Because the origin of this institution, opened in 1848, based on Rushdie Dârülmuallimîn-i. Alia Dârülmuallimîn-i after the declaration of the republic, a period of time has operated under the name Higher Teachers School.
1923-1924, closed a few years ago to train teachers for secondary schools instead of the İhzârî Kısım, the secondary section was opened. However, this part is not more long lasting. In 1936, the name of High School Teachers of the school, only high-school teacher training has become an institution. Until 1959, the Turkey has maintained being the only high-school teacher training institution. Primary teacher training is part of this institution as a separate, Male Teachers College has operated under the name. 1946 - 1947 academic year, opened in 1848, Rushdie Dârülmuallimîn-i, and thus fulfill its mission to train teachers to secondary schools, was opened at Istanbul Atatürk Institute of Education. Shortly after, this new institution, teacher training institutions in Turkey has become one of the most qualified.
In 1978, Ataturk Training Institute, the education and training was stopped. Atatürk Institute of Education, two years later, in 1980, Atatürk High School as the teacher began to operate again.
Atatürk High School Teacher, all higher education institutions together under the umbrella of legal regulation, the Board of Higher Education in 1982, taking the name Ataturk Faculty of Education, was one of the units that make up the newly established University of Marmara.

Profile of The Programme
|
The Department of Art Teaching (ATD) offers a program
of experimental training and education that aims
to train creative art teachers who possess developed
aesthetic skills and taste, can reflect the knowledge
they have gained to society, can follow and interpret
their age, and can contribute to the developments
in art. The main principles of the department are to
communicate the main concepts in art teaching and
the improvement of a creative personality through
research in the workshop. Experimental studies that
help the students to improve their knowledge, skills,
scientific thinking and creative abilities are supported
with general knowledge, educational formation, trips
and observation. The creative abilities of the students
are monitored and as of the second year, the students
are trained in one of the main spheres of painting,
graphics, sculpture, ceramics, textile, unique press,
industrial design, traditional Turkish handicraft or photography
to allow their personal development.
Education: - The undergraduate program of the department consists
of courses insubject-specific knowledge, general
knowledge and pedagogical training. The department
offers a four-year education program consisting of theoretical
and applied courses. Graduate and doctoral programs
are also offered by the Institute of Educational
Sciences.
Facilities: - The Department of Art Teaching possesses workshops
for painting, unique press, graphics, computer studies,
photography, ceramics, sculpture, textile, industrial design,
pattern, basic design, perspective and writing, as
well as a ceramics kiln, a reading hall, a library of art
books and exhibition halls.
