History
Department of Turkish Language and Literature, since 1982 within the framework of four-year undergraduate program began accepting students. Faculties of education in this section was restructured in 1998 by HEC faculty time was 4 to 5 years. Semester of teaching activities ongoing within the scope of section 10, the seventh semester weighted, three semester courses are mainly given in the training. At the end of this training, students are having a bachelor's degree in five years. The aim is to train secondary school teacher in the Department of Turkish Language and Literature.

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
Students enrolled in a previous formal learning is recognized. The students who completed any of the courses in the program as special students or the transfer students do not take the same course again. If the students, coming from abroad, have enough points from MÜYÖS (Marmara University Foreign Student Selection Examination) Turkish test, Marmara University School of Foreign Languages Turkish proficiency test or Turkish test of TÖMER (Turkish Language Center) depending on the university in Turkey, they exempted from Turkish preparatory education for a year.

Profile of The Programme
Program 5 years old. Area-weighted courses of 3.5 years, and 1.5 continuing education courses are weighted. The purpose of this program in terms of the Turkish language and literature, education, knowledge and skills to train teachers of high responsibility. Main fields of science degree program area knowledge consists of courses on general culture and pedagogical formation. Education and training is a 5 year courses are both theoretical and practical. Department of Educational Sciences at the Institute also serves as master's and doctoral programs.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Students who were graduated from the program can be a teacher of Turkish languge and literature in state or private schools in Turkey. In addition to that students can apply to master of arts programs and positions of research assisstantship in the universities.
Access to Further Studies
Students who were graduated from Turkish Language and Literature Education programs can study for Master of Arts (MA). They can also apply to study a doctoral program (for PhD degree) if they successfully satisfy the foreign lamguage requirements.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
According to the examination, assessment and grading regulations, (http://www.marmara.edu.tr/dosya/mevzuat/yeni/mu_yonerge_basari_degerlendirme_v43.pdf ), each course is assessed via at least one midterm exam (composed of quizzes, homeworks and assignments) and a final end-of-term exam, with contributions of 40%, and 60% respectively. The AA is the highest grade and has a grade credit of 4.00, BA 3.5, BB 3.0, CB 2.5, CC 2.0, DC 1.5, DD 1.0, FD 0.5 and FF 0.0. Grades of AA to CC are pass, FF and FD fail, DD and DC is conditional pass.
Graduation Requirements
Students who are successful from all courses and have at least 2.00 (0-4 scale) cumulative general perfornance average (CGPA) and above get undergraduate diploma of Turkish Language and Literature Education.

Facilities
The department has the seminar rooms as well as standard classrooms. Students will have the opportunitiy to take courses from experts in the field of Turkish Language and Literature Education, to have school placements in some of the best schools in Turkey.

1 Graduates will have sufficient knowledge and comprehension in the field/dicipline.
2 Graduates are able to teach part of this dicipline as professional lecturers at educational foundations.
3 Graduates are able to recognize and explain the problems of Turkish literature and language.
4 Graduates can explain the periods of Turkish literature and their features.
5 Graduates are aware of the different aspects of the Turkish language within era and location, and are able to comment and analyze the same.
6 Graduates will be aware not only of Turkish language and literature but also major Turkic writers and their works.
7 Graduates will be introduced not only to Turkish literature, but also to Eastern—Persian —and Western—English, French, German, and Italian—literature.
8 Graduates are able to use the knowledge they have attained and apply it. They can also make comparative studies within periods and between periods.
9 Graduates are able to carry out analyses.
10 Graduates have the skills to use computers for language applications and literary materials.
11 Graduates will have the confidence to express personal critical thoughts in a constructive way.
12 Graduates will gain the tradition of lifelong learning process.
13 Graduates gain an understanding of ethical behavior.
14 Graduates can work for publishing houses and periodicals as Turkish language experts or editors.
15 Graduates can write television and film scripts.
