General Description ^
History
Department of Turkish Education has been served Faculty of Ataturk Education, ıt was opened in 1998 – 1999 academic year. The undergraduate program consists of subject-specific courses including pedagogic courses and electives. The program also aims to train teachers who can teach through innovative methods techniques and approaches. “Learning through action” has a special significance emphasized in all the courses in the program.

Specific Admission Requirements
In addition to a secondary school diploma, for Turkish citizen students, in order to register the program, it is required to be settled in LYS (Graduate Placement Examination) made by ÖSYM or to transfer the program. For students coming from abroad, it is required to get enough points and to choose from MÜYÖS (Marmara University Foreign Student Selection Examination) organized by the Marmara University.
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
In order to apply the bachelor program applicants must have obtained a required standard score from Bachelor Placement Test-2 (LYS-2). 2. Applicants of the bachelor program must be a graduate from verbal division of Secondary Education.

Profile of The Programme
To train teachers of high responsibility in terms of knowledge and skills in Turkish education. To train teachers of high responsibility in terms of knowledge and skills in Turkish education. To train teachers who have a sound understanding of Turkish and have positive attitude to Turkish and the program is committed to promoting scientific literacy.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
To produce Turkish educators able to meet the increasing demand for high quality teaching. Graduates gives Turkish lessons in the field of Turkish education. They work as a consultant in Turkish education programs at the private and public education centers. They may instruct undergraduate and graduate courses at state and foundation universities.
Access to Further Studies
Students can move to graduate studies such as Master of Arts or doctoral (PhD) programs in Turkish Language Education. Having an MA or PhD degree students can apply for a position to work as a research assisstant or as a lecturer in a university.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
During the program, there are two written exams for most of the courses. These are mid-term and end of term-exams. Score for these courses are evaluated by taking 40% of the mid-term exam and 60% of the end of term exam. In addition to that, other assessment instruments such as assisgments, projects can be used.
Graduation Requirements
To graduate with a bachelor's degree and receive a diploma, students must complete the all the courses successfully (153 credits). In addition to that, at the end of the second year, students should have the mean value of scores which is greater than 1,80 to be able to take courses from the third year.

Facilities
There are three classroom, and one computer lab in Turkish Education Departman. The Department has student exchange programs for both undergraduate and graduate students within the ERASMUS scheme. The Department of TurkishTeaching also offers a double major program.
