Associate Professor Dr. Yusuf Avcı was appointed as the first 'Chair of the Department'. The department moved from Fındıkzade to the central campus in Göztepe in 1991. |

Qualification Awarded |

Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics. |

Specific Admission Requirements |

Candidates, who have already earned a high school diploma, should have taken the First Cycle Placement Test (LYS), conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Center (OSYM). Candidates, who have already registered as a student in math department of other universities, could also apply for undergraduate transfer upon the declaration of the department administration. |

Profile of The Programme |

The Department is one of the leading mathematics and research establishments in Turkey that offers teaching, and academic research methods in mathematics. The faculty members are comprised of internationally respected research scientists, and the department is successful in attracting major grants. The students are strongly encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to pursue international scholarship programs through Erasmus Student Network. ' Very successful students' with a GPA of higher than 3.00 are offered the change to get a second diploma or certificate in Physics. Curriculum: The curriculum consists of three types of courses and the laboratory application. 1. Compulsory courses: These are courses that students are obliged to take in the program which are made of six major branches of mathematics ( Analysis and the Theory of Functions, Algebra and the Theory of Numbers, Geometry, Topology , Applied Mathematics and Foundations of Mathematics and Mathematical Logic) in 'MAT' codes and major sciences course as physics. 2. Mutual learning courses (compulsory) Courses that are regulated by the Council of Higher Education of Turkey, in the subclause (i) of the first clause of the 5th article of the 2547, such as Atatürk's Principles and the History of Turkish Renovation, Turkish Language, and Foreing Language courses. 3.
