History
The Art History Department of the Marmara University is established by Prof. Dr. Selçuk Mülayim in 2005. The undergraduate program was activated in 2009-2010 academic year with 30 students.

Specific Admission Requirements
Candidates should achieve the processes which are determined by OSYM and Marmara University's rules and regulations. The educational status of the students is determined by the rules and regulations of Marmara University.
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
A language proficiency examination is given to the new students for an exemption from the language courses at the beginning of the academic year for which they have enrolled.
Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Students are entitled to graduate if they satisfactorily complete all the required course work. In the end of the second academic year, a student's GANO must be at least 2.00 out of 4.00 in order to take upper-class couses.
Profile of The Programme
Our academic staff is composed of 1 professor, 3 assistant professors and 1 research assistant. Our undergraduate program consists of lectures and seminar courses that cover all phases of Turkish, Byzantine, European and contemporary arts. Lectures and seminars specifically focus on the cultural spheres of Istanbul and environs. Moreover, we offer lectures on Photography, Technical Drawing, Ottoman Turkish, Paleography and Epigraphy, which provide significant background skills for art history research.

Access to Further Studies
Our program is detailed and well-equipped in order to respond the needs of the graduates. Our preparations to the graduate programs is regulated in accordance with the criteria of the Institute of Turkic Studies at Marmara University.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Examinations are determined by the regulations of Marmara University. Evaluation of the semester includes a midterm exam. Each evaluation is based on a 100 grade system and overall semester-evaluation grade has a 40 % contribution to the overall score. Final examination is based on a 100 grade system and the grade contributes 60% to the overall score. No second final exams are given. At the end of the semester, all grades given over 100 are transferred to Relative Grading System (BDS).
Graduation Requirements
Students must complete all the required courses. Turkish and English diploma supplements are given to graduates together with their undergraduate diploma. In these supplements, the qualifications of the education, GPA of the graduate and type of the diploma are stated.

1 Students comprehend the historical environment as a whole.
2 Students are able to define the problem, find alternative solutions and reach possible sources.
3 Students are able to unify the particular problems and improve realizable models.
4 Students are able to use various dating methods for different materials.
5 Students will be able to understand and perceive objects in three dimensional forms.
6 Students will be able toevaluate the art and technological products in accordance to their historical periods.
7 Students will be able tospecify, adopt and eliminate the problem.
8 Students will be able to write informative reports for practitioners, concerning architecture or minor artworks/objects.
9 Students will be able to determine the architectural styles and identities.
10 Students will be able to document the traces of artworks and ruins, enters them on visual and written records.
11 Students will be able to use a rich vocabulary owing to a professional terminology list.
12 Students will be able to differentiate the materials and techniques, and classify them in accordance to their types.
