History
The Department of Economics was established in 1983 under the Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences in Marmara University and has become one of the leading economics departments in Turkey. The Department has been operating under the Faculty of Economics since 2012.

University entrance exam by Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM).
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
The students who have previously passed a BA course in another institute can be exempted from some courses within the framework of the related bylaws. If the content of the course previously taken in another institution is equivalent to the course offered at the programme, then the student can be exempted from this course with the approval of the exemption committee after the evaluation of the course content.
Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Sufficient score from the University Entrance Exam and English proficiency are required.
Profile of The Programme
The department offers a high level of international standards for undergraduate and graduate programs (both master's and doctorate) and prepare students for a career in academic, public and private sectors.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Public Institutions (Central Bank of Republic of Turkey, State Planning Organization, Undersecretariat of Foreign Trade, Undersecretariat of Customs, General Secretariat of European Union, Capital Markets Board and ect). Banks, International and National Companies, International Trade Companies, Investment, Consulting and Credit Firms, Auditing Fims, Stock Exchange.
Access to Further Studies
A number of our graduates have been doing masters and doctorate at distinguished universities in Europe and in the USA. A number of senior students of the department have been awarded TUBITAK Graduate Scholarship since the academic year 2005-2006.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Students are evaluated according to one midterm and one final exam in the academic semester. The weight of the exams while calculating the average grade is 40% for the midterm and 60% for the final exam. In order to be successful from a course, the student should get at least 50 from the final exam and the average of the midterm and final exams should also be at least 50.
Graduation Requirements
For graduation, the students must be successful from all courses they took and complete 148 credits (240 ECTS credits) after four years of education. In addition, the Cumulative Grade Point Average (GANO) should be minimum 2.00 out of 4.00.

Facilities
The Department has 18 lecturers. There are computer labs for the use of undergraduate and graduate students. There is a chance to study in various European countries under the Erasmus student exchange program. In addition, the student clubs organize various social, sporting and cultural activities.
