General Description ^
History
Marmara University - Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department is established in 1994. After fullfilling the initial space requirements and completion of the preparation period, the department accepted the first undergraduate students in 2010. Therefore, mission and vision statements of the department are defined as; "By providing the required information and skills to our engineering students in high standards, they will reach the level of being competitive in fields of research and application in Turkey and also in the world", and "In the field of electrical and electronics engineering, our vision is to comprehend, produce, improve and disseminate all the necessary knowledge, skills and technologies for Turkey and the humanity".

Specific Admission Requirements
Having a high school diploma. Taking the required score, determined by YÖK, from the central examinations (YGS and LYS) that are organised by ÖSYM. Furthermore, completion of the English preparation class, or taking a passing grade from qualification examinations that are organised by YDYO or other institutions whose qualification examinations are approved by YDYO is required.
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
Acceptance of previous learning activities, vertical, lateral and within university transfers are conducted according to the regulations defined by YÖK.
Qualification Requirements and Regulations
In our department where the education of Electrical and Electronics Engineering is provided in a modern perspective, education period is 4 years excluding English preparation. Being completely taught in English - completion of all courses in the curriculum, as well as fulfilling of two distinct 30-day internship with success are adequate for graduation.
Profile of The Programme
Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department of Marmara University aims to educate electrical and electronics engineers and candidates of scientists who have a solid basis of knowledge and professional education in the field of electrical and electronics engineering, who can utilize the necessary techniques to the latest engineering applications and use the modern communication tools and hardware effectively, who are able to perform researches and propose projects in applied sciences in nationally and internationally, who are able to follow, adopt, implement and contribute to the rapid developments in the studies they are working by comprehending the importance of lifelong learning, who have the ability to think creatively and analytically, who are able to analyze and design in an advanced level, who can take responsibilities individually and are prone to team work, who are capable to perform multi-disciplinary studies, who are virtuous and hard-working, and can utilize the professional know-how for the benefits of the mankind and the society, who can take heed of the universal values and are conscious to the environment, who follow professional ethics and possess sense of responsibility, who can set effective oral and written communications and who possess qualities of leadership, in order to make the students become conscious about the complementary elements of engineering are the social life, the business life, the industry and the human being; To carry out the research activities that contribute to technological developments.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Employment areas for Electrical and Electronics Engineering graduates are quite wide. Beside Electrical and Electronics Industries, graduates can find jobs within all sectors related to electricity, electronics, otomation, telecommunication and software.
Access to Further Studies
Candidates who successfully complete their undergraduate education, can continue graduate programs on their own branches and/or on other permitted areas, providing that, taking a passing grade from ALES examination that is organised by ÖSYM and satisfying English proficiency conditions of the institution that they apply for.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Its mandatory for students to attend classes, practice hours and exams. Student attendance is checked by instructor. Every semester lasts 15 weeks and eighth week is booked for mid-terms. Similarly, at the end of the semester final exams are held. Moreover, during semester, tools like quiz, homework, presentation, report and laboratory are employed as performance measures depending on the course and the instructor. Final grading depends 60 % on mid-term and 40 % on final exams. Students having GPA's less than 2.00 are considered as unsuccessful. Besides, from the end of the second semester, students should maintain at least a GPA of 1.80 in order to attend new courses.

Facilities
Electronics Lab is available. Other facilites are shared with the school of engineering. Since Electrical and Electronics Engineering department has began accepting undergraduate students, a rapid development and settlement procedure is being commenced. Having laboratory facilities such as, Electronics, Electric Circuits, Digital Design and Microprocessors, Computer - Computational Sciences, Signal Processing, Telecommunications, Control and Automation, Electromagnetics and Power Systems, development and renewal projects do still continue.
