General Description ^
The origin of the Faculty of Technical Education was constituted by Istanbul Technical Teachers College. Istanbul Technical Teachers College had started its activities in the Haydarpasa Technical Schools Campus on August 27, 1976 under the Ministry of National Education. Istanbul Technical Teachers College was merged to form Marmara University with decree law no.41 dated 20 June 1982 and renamed as The Faculty of Technical Education which offers Bachelor of Science degree. The aim of the faculty is to train teachers for Anatolian Technical and Vocational High Schools. However, in recent years, the Ministry of Education requires a small number of technical teacher’s employment for every each year; graduated students are also employed in the industry as "technical staff", or in industrial education centers, "Technical Trainer" on assignment title. They can work as an Occupational Safety Specialist according to article 82 of the Labour Law No. 4857 dated 22.05.2003.
Qualification Awarded
Who successfully complete the Graduate Program in Electronic and Computer Education is qualified to be a technical teacher.
Specific Admission Requirements
The candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent education and to be succeed in the Student Selection and Placement Examination regulated by OSYM
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
Turkish higher education institutions are at early stage in the process of recognition of prior learning yet. For this reason, all the programs in Marmara University are not fully initialized.
Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Who successively complete the all courses including technical and pedagogical in the under graduate program, and also who gets a score at least 2.00 weighted GPA of 4.00 and complete a 48-days industrial internship is awarded by a Bachelor’s of Science degree in the field of Electronics-Computer Education.
Profile of The Programme
A dynamic, quality and application-oriented education and training program is carried out in the department to train teachers who will contribute to in the field of technical education and technological developments. Formal education language is in English, education duration is four years after one year preparatory school. The department with two programs Electronics - Communication and Computer -Control Education has four main fields: Electronics, Communication, Computer and Control
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Teacher for high schools of Ministry of National Education, Lecturer in Higher Education Institutions, Engineer (R & D and application areas), training specialists, sales staff, support staff for the various national and international companies operating in the fields of IT, automation, electronics and communications technologies, automotive.
Access to Further Studies
Candidates who have successfully completed the BSc degree and who receives sufficient score from ALES (Academic Personal and Graduate Education Entrance Examination) and sufficient knowledge in English language can apply Master and/or PhD programs.

There are a total 27 faculty members including 2 Professors, 4 Associate Professors, 9 Assistant Professors, 2 lecturers and 10 Research Assistants in the Department of Electronics and Computer Education. It has wide variety laboratories equipped with modern measuring and testing devices as follows: Basic Electronics, Microprocessors and Microcontrollers, Communication, Image Systems and Satellite Communications, Programmable Controllers, Robotics, Electro-Pneumatic, Industrial Control, Control Techniques, Computer Software and Hardware. Training programs which is application-oriented are given in collaboration with the industry and according to the industry's needs in the department.
