General Description ^
History
Marmara University School of Physical Education and Sports Department of Sports Management, was opened in 1993-1994 in the high school. Management sciences, liberal education, sport lessons are given in the department of sports management. The department aim is to cultivate sport managers.
Qualification Awarded
Graduates who have successfully completed the program by fulfilling all the conditions take the "Sports Manager" title.
Specific Admission Requirements
Students are accepted according to university exams of ÖSYM, on the type of YGS 5 points and 3-year athlete license.
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
Our program includes the same contents of other universities but also particularly has ‘Module Programs’ that give our graduates the opportunity of being expert at sports management sub titles and different career areas.

Students must obtain a grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and successfully pass all courses on the programme (equivalent to a total of 240 ECTS).
Profile of The Programme
Education program is determined by YÖK. Consists of 4 years and 8 semesters. The programme gives students ability of analysing interior and exterior environment of sport organizations, solving problems and making appropriate decisions and applying them in changing conditions.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
A graduate of our department may find positions at the careers shown below: Club manager, facility manager, organizer, sport journalist, public relations specialist, athlete manager, sport business administration, sports training specialist
Access to Further Studies
The graduates holding Bachelor’s Degree are eligible to apply to Master’s Degree programmes at national level and /or international level both in the same and in related disciplines. The gradutes have to pass the ALES exam and have to speak english enough for acedemic studies. At the Master level an specialization in "Sport Management" exist.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
The department has two types of exams. Midterm and final exams are are applied to the students. Assessment and grading method is Practical exams and theoretical exams. % 40 of Midterm exam note and % 60 of final exam note are assessing by acedemicians.

Facilities
Our department, with its aim educating up to sport managers, has 1 professors, 5 associate professor and 8 research assistants. A lot of equipments, venues that increase the quality of our education such as modern sport facilities, library with a wide range collection of sport sciences, electronic library which has a lot of visual sources of our School of PES are put into service for our students. As a part of Erasmus Program, our department has bilateral aggrements with the Universities which are pioneer of sport sciences across Europe. These aggrements give oppurtunity to our students having an international vision.
Key Learning Outcomes ^
1 Students will acquire skills for written-oral presentations and professional-individual communication.
2 Students will acquire skills in coaching, leadership, mentorship and analytical thinking.
3 Students will acquire the ability for internal and external environmental analysis of sports organizations, as well as problem solving and decision making under changing conditions.
4 Students will acquire sports knowledge and sports culture, in addition to skills for disseminating Olympic ideals to society.
5 Students will specialize in sports and sports-related organizations.
6 Students will acquire competency in lifelong learning.
7 Students will acquire knowledge of sports facilities and technologies.
8 Students will acquire competency to defend their own and organizational rights in areas of disagreement.
9 Students will acquire fundamental skills for specialization in sports-related social science disciplines
10 Students will acquire competency in sports management processes and applications.
