History
Department of Middle East Geography was established in 1992 at Institute of Middle East Studies of Marmara University. Curriculum of depatment were changed in 2011. Elective courses were added to curriculum.

Undergraduate diploma, Academic Personel and Graduate Education Entrance Examination (ALES)

Students are accepted from candidates with an undergraduate education program. In general, without limitation of area, particularly in the social sciences and other areas with a bachelor's degree students are accepted into the program.

Profile of The Programme
Master program includes courses relevant to Middle East geography (Physical geography of middle east, human geography of middle east, Economic geography of middle east, Current issues of middle east) and regional languages (Arabic, Persian).
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Students that gain pedagogic formation can work as geography teachers at educational institutions. They can serve at bureucracy in departments relevant to geography. They can be appointed to universities as research assistants and lecturers.
Access to Further Studies
Graduate students can access to further studies in all institues all across Turkey. The research areasd in theses institutes are physical geography, human geography, regional geography and Middle Eastern geography.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
The aim of the program is to bring intellectual perspective in candidates who are studying in the program and during the assessment and evaluation process this target is also considered. Within the framework of Marmara University’s legislation related to education, mid-term exam, project work, presentations, and final exam is done with assessment and evaluation. Graduation Requirements
According to Marmara University’s legislation related to education the candidate should fulfill the conditions foreseen in the examination regulation of Institute for Middle Eastern Studies and should defence his thesis, which is prepared by taking into account the qualifications required by the regulations, in front of the jury.
