General Description ^
Academic year 1997-98 under the restructuring of the colleges of education, the HEC with the decision of the People's Education Department offers four-year undergraduate program was closed. Necessarily lifelong education, adult education as a requirement and conditions of the country granting the Adult Education Department believes the efforts of faculty members, starting in 1998 up to now has been active as a graduate program.

Specific Admission Requirements
For admission to a Second Cycle Program a degree of B.A. is essential and it is required to successfully pass the exam ALES (Academic Staff and Graduate Education Test). ALES should be of at least 60 points. After admission performed the science exam and oral exams. According to these results: 20% of the average of the B.A. graduation , 50% of ALES , 15% of the science exam , 15% of the oral exam assessed.
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
Formal training is provided under the Law of Higher Education. Students have internal transfer opportunity. The rules for recognition of formal prior learning are well defined. A student who is currently enrolled in a Master's Degree programme in the same discipline at another institution and has successfully completed at least two semester, upon submitting all required documents before the deadline, may transfer to the Master's Programme at MARMARA University upon the recommendation of the department administration and with the approval of the Administrative Committee of the Graduate School. The decision taken will also include eligibility for exemption from some course requirements of the graduate program. Recognition of prior non-formal and in-formal learning is at the beginning stage in Turkish Higher Education Institutions. In addition, the European Union Erasmus programare also available in our department.
Qualification Requirements and Regulations
To obtain the degrre , the student has to successfully complete all the courses in the programme ( equivalent of 60 AKTS) and has to have a 2.50 minimum GPA over 4.00. Besides the completion of the courses, the student has to do a graduation research upon the decision of study field during their 3rd and 4th semester, under the guidance of theri academic advisor.The detailed information regarding qualification requirements and regulations can be reached at . under the subtitle of student- legislations.

Access to Further Studies
There is no opportunity to access any upper degree programe. Students who wish to apply for a different doctoral programs. The graduates from this program may apply to doctorate programs. However, with respect to the admission to the Ph. D. programs they are also required to attain a minimum of 65 points from ALES (Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Exam) and 60 points from ÜDS (Foreign Language Academic Proficiency Exam in Turkey) or to get score from internationally valid exams that is equivalent to that score.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Minimum one midterm examination and one endterm examination is made for every subject, based on semester order. Minimum valid score in endterm examination is 65 over 100. Examination grades in applied subjects are defined over evaluation of homework assignment, research and similar studies, based on the quality of application. The success grade for one subject is calculated over evaluation of midterm examinations' GPA and endterm examinations' GPA together. The effect of endterm examinations on success grade is 60%. The CGPA should be minimum 2.50 for passing any subject.
Graduation Requirements
About the program the student to be successful cumulative grade point average (CGPA) must be 2.50. The seminar course and thesis are non-credit and graded on a pass/fail basis. Students must register for thesis work and the Specialization Field course offered by supervisor every semester following the semester, in which the supervisor is appointed. A student who has completed work on the thesis within the time period, must write a thesis, using the data collected, according to the specifications of the Graduate School Thesis Writing Guide. The thesis must be defended in front of a jury. The Master's thesis jury is appointed on the recommendations of the relevant Department Chairperson and with the approval of the Administrative Committee of the Graduate School. The jury is composed of the thesis supervisor and faculty members. Of the appointed jury members, up to one may be selected from another Department or another University. A majority vote by the jury members determines the outcome of the thesis or examination. The vote can be for "acceptance", "rejection" or "correction". To correct or change a thesis found incomplete and/or inadequate by the jury, the jury must specify in its report that such corrections are necessary. A student may be given, by a decision of the Administrative Committee of the Graduate School, up to three months to complete the corrections. The student must then retake the thesis examination.
