History
Physics education masters degree program was established in 1997-1998 academic year within the Educational Sciences Institute of Marmara University in Turkey. Program is nested within Department of Secondary Science and Mathematics Education
Qualification Awarded
Upon the succesfull completion of the program, students gain Masters degree in Science Education (MSc)
Specific Admission Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum score of 70 out of 100 in Academic Personnel and Post Graduate Education Admittance Examination (ALES) which is centrally administrated by Student Selection and Placement (OSYM). Other international examinations are acceptable for foreign students and to be successful on written exam and interview.
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
To be graduted from a five years undergraduate program on physics education or to have teaching certificate in physics education

Profile of The Programme
This program aims to provide an extensive knowledge and skills on basic physical & pedagogical concepts, research fields, research approaches & techniques in physics education and current educational applications. The program aims to educate effective researchers who can contibute scientific knowledge in the field, reflective practitioners and, life-long learners. The program also aims to prepare & equip students for PhD degree.

Students who graduated from this program can work at public or private secondary schools as physics teachers or continue to study as academics at various universities. Academic career at national and international universities, education consultants at sate and private education institutions
Access to Further Studies
Our graduates can apply to graduate studies in physics education, science education or educational sciences. In order to be accepted candidates should meet the criteria identified by related graduate school.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
When calculating grades, %40 of the grade taken in midterm exam and %60 of the grade taken in final exams are used and 65 is the minimum grade to pass a course, a thesis dissertation should be prepared & defended
Graduation Requirements
At the Marmara University in Turkey, in order to succesfully graduate from physics teaching master program a student must be succesfull at all the required and elective courses taken during the program and then s/he must defend his/her thesis successfully.

In order to promote the quality of education, the department provides opportunities to graduate students to interact with experts/institutions at national and international levels. The department establishes academic links with other universities and research centers launch & carry out student exchange programs. The program provides opportunities and allows students to take courses from other related programs.

1 to develop and deepen the level information in the same or a different area based on the bachelor of profiecieny .
2 To grasp the interaction between disciplines related to the field
3 to use theoretical and practical information expertised in the field
4 to create new information by integrating information from different disciplinary areas in the field and to resolve problems that require expertise by using scienific research methods
5 to construct, develop a solution, solve, evaluate and apply the results for a problem in the field.
6 In complex situations unforeseen to develop new strategic approaches and produce a solution by taking responsibility
7 to evaluate critically information related to the field, manage learning and to carry out advanced studies
8 able to transfer current developments in the field in written, oral and visual forms
