General Description ^
History
Even though, the history of educational and instructional technology goes back to the early 20th century, the department of Computer and Instructional Technology in Marmara University was founded in 1998. Previously, Prof. Dr. Hikmet SAVCI (1998 - 1999) and Prof. Dr. Esat HAMZAOĞLU (1999 - 2000) served as a head of department. Our Master degree program was initiated by Prof. Dr. Servet BAYRAM, the head of the department, in the academic year of 2000-20001.

With respect to the conditions of regulations by YOK, there is no more qualification requirement.
Qualification Requirements and Regulations
The program consists of two semesters and three years. It covers the core units, vocational units and general cultural units. Program language is Turkish. In the department there are one professor, one assistant professor, one lecturer, and three research assistants. Furthermore, there are one research assistant and one research assistant working in the department but coming from another department. There are also three lecturers working in part-time base.
Profile of The Programme
Our graduated student can work as scientist, as teacher for computer and learning technologies, as director of information technology, as expert of measurement and evaluation, as expert of software-design, as expert of web page design, as computer programmer, as network expert, as designer of system and multimedia, as designer of multimedia and graphics, etc.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Our graduated students can get a PhD degree in the field or in other fields. Furthermore they can work as academicians at universities or teacher in public schools.
Access to Further Studies
Our successfully graduated students are allowed to continue to study in a PhD degree. For the details apply the regulations of YOK. PhD studentship: MSc degree, ALES, UDS, Science Exam and Oral Appointment.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
exams are often written-based, but in some courses application, assignment and project-based. For our students the evaluation criteria is: 40 % of the midterm and 60% of the final exam. The limit is 65.
Graduation Requirements
After successfully completing the courses the student starts his thesis. After submitting and defending his/her thesis, he/she is granted with master degree.

Facilities
There are two classrooms serving for the department. One of them has a projector, but not the other one. However, a blackboard is in there. There is also a seminar room (with 15 person capacity) in the department. There are currently 4 computer labs. Two of them are used by courses offered in our programme, and other two are used as service labs for other programmes to teach in. 3 out of 4 computer labs have projectors. The capacity of the labs are between 19 and 29.
