History
English Master (with thesis) programme was established in 25.01.1993 year connected to the Health Science institute of Marmara University. This Programme aims to educate dentists to give orthodontic treatment sevices in internationally accepted high quality degrees and to make them highly qualified orthodontists.
Qualification Awarded
Students who have successfully completed the program are awarded to recieve the title of Master of Science in Orthodontics.
Specific Admission Requirements
Foreign nationality, graduation from a dental faculty in a foreign country. To recieve at least GMAT, 466 (min); GRE, 635 (min-math) or GRE, 950 (min-total) and TOEFL iBT, 53 (min); PBT, 477 (min) or CBT, 153 (min) and to become both successful in scientific assessment and interview.
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
Graduation from a dental faculty in a foreign country.

Profile of The Programme
This program is designed to educate qualified dentists in the field of orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. The main objective is to prepare the dentist to become a highly skilled specialist in modern clinical orthodontics. The program follows the guidelines of the Erasmus Project.

Work as a specialist in orthodontics in private clinics, offices or state-owned oral health center, also works in private or state owned hospitals. Works in academic staves of national or international universities. Dental companies
Access to Further Studies
Upon succesful completion of masters degree, graduates may apply to doctoral programs provided that they scored enough points at the ALES test and English language competency; and are accepted if they are succesful in the interview.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
In general, 40 % of the exams, homeworks and projects made within the year and the 60 % of the exams made at the end of the year are used in the assessment of overall year success. At the end of the programe they have to advocate successfully the prepared master thesis in front of the academic jury.

To complete successfully the lectures, courses and hospital practices and to defend successfully the prepared master's thesis in front of the academic jury.

Computers, scanner and software for cephalometric analysis and prediction, laboratory for construction of orthodontic models and removable appliances, orthodontic clinic for treatment of patients, cleft lip and palate clinic.
Key Learning Outcomes ^
1 Ability to diagnose and classify dental and skeletal anomalies
2 Attainment of theoretical background and practical skills in treatment of dental and skeletal malocclusions.
3 Competency in performing and evaluating cephalometric and soft tissue analysis necessary for diagnosis and growth and treatment response prediction.
4 Ability to make comprehensive orthodontic treatment plans
5 Competency in carrying out orthodontic treatment using contemporary removable and fixed techniques.
6 Attainment of skills to plan orthognatic surgery cases and make presurgical orthodontic preparations.
7 Ability to participate in interdisciplinary teams involved in the treatment of cleft lip and palate patients and to provide orthodontic care to such patients from infancy through adulthood.
8 To become equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform high quality interdisciplinary treatment with the other branches of dentistry as well.
9 Capability to make differential diagnosis in temporomandibular joint disorders and to provide treatment for intraarticular disorders.
10 Ability to make a comprehensive and critical review of the literature, to take part in a research activity and effectively present research results.
