History
Department of Pharmaceutical Microbiology, Faculty of Pharmacy, is connected to the Department of Basic Pharmaceutical Sciences was established in 1993. Bachelor, Master and Doctorate of theoretical and practical training. Medical microbiology, is working on pharmaceutical microbiology and immunology. Undergraduate and graduate level, providing trained researchers able to use knowledge in the field of health.
Qualification Awarded
Upon successful completion of the program by fulfilling all the requirements in the field of Pharmaceutical Microbiology graduates receive a diploma degree in Master of Science .
Specific Admission Requirements
Examination students will be accepted for a masters program. Prospective students will be the qualifications, application requirements, deadline day, the exam location, date and time will be announced before the beginning of the fall semester. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree, and the Öğrenci Seçme ve Yerleştirme Merkezi (ÖSYM) as the center of the points on the types of ALES must take at least 60 standard points. Equivalence of diplomas obtained abroad undergraduate Yüksek Öğrenim Kurumu (YÖK) must be approved by. Candidates graduate diplomas, undergraduate courses, achievement scores, grade averages and graduation certified documents stating ALES scores, and record information on the internet along with filling out the application number provided by the Directorate of Marmara University Institute of Health Sciences should apply. Interview notes are over 100 full grades. Grade level of the candidate's scientific achievements, ALES score of 50%, 20% of undergraduate courses, grade point average interview score is the sum of 15% and 15% of the assessment of professional knowledge. Candidates must be at least 60 grade-level scientific achievements.
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
Depending on the institution of a higher education institution a student's graduate program in order to accept the application for transfer, the weighted grade point average is above the limit set by the institute and the student wants to continue the program with the graduate program must be harmony between. Students wishing to transfer the ongoing success of the courses in the curriculum documents filed with the state adding that refers to the directorate of the institute. Director of the Institute; the opinion of the department and whether the student needs to get the names of the courses. Opinions and recommendations of the Board of Directors of the department of the Institute examining the request for transfer students is decided whether or not appropriate. Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Graduate training period is 2 years . The program provided a total of not less than 21 credits at least 7 courses, seminar and thesis work. Graduate study program consists of compulsory and elective courses, and total number of credits is 60. Period until the student's course grade is the sum of 40% and 60% of the final exam must be at least 65. The seminar is 2 hours per week non-credit pass / fail is considered. The student fails to enroll in classes again, or adviser, subject to approval can take other graduate courses. Student thesis begins at the beginning of the third term. Thesis of a student of the institute is registered in accordance with the rules of spelling to write a thesis and defend it orally before a jury. Thesis at the end of the defense, the jury accepted by simple majority, decides rejection or correction. Student theses at the latest within 3 months following the decision of Correction by the need to repeat the same defends the thesis before a jury. The student's record is deleted or not accepted the defensive secondary.

After possesing Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Microbiology the graduate have the adequite knowledge about the scope and application areas of Pharmaceutical microbiology. Possess the adequite knowledge about various microbiological experimental techniques and the principles and is able to apply them Able to prepare media and solutions properly . Able to work according to the aseptic rules . Able to carry out antibiotic susceptibility tests . Able to carry out environmental sampling procedures from microbiological aspect . Possess the adequite knowledge about the types and application arreas of antimicrobial drugs. Possess the adequite knowledge about sterilization, disinfection and asepsis and carry out them. Possess the adequite knowledge about the formation of an infection, pathogenesis and treatment. Able to carry out microbiological quality control procedures in the Pharmaceutical Industry. Able to carry out GMP and GLP practices and training in Pharmaceutical Industry from microbiological aspect . Possess extensive knowledge about the relationship between microorganisms, immune system and drug. Possess extensive knowledge about the effects of antimicrobial and non-antimicrobial drugs on the immune system. Able to work on this subject in R & D laboratories . Able to investigate the effects antimicrobial and non-antimicrobial drugs on the functions of the immune system cells.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
The graduates in Master’s of Pharmaceutical Microbiology could work as responsible pharmaceutical microbiologist for the determination of sterility and microbial activity in microbiology laboratories of policlinics and hospitals, pharmaceutical, food and cosmetic industry and other areas, research and development (R & D).
Access to Further Studies
Upon successful completion of Master’s graduate degree, candidates may start to PhD program in case they take the current note from ALES (Academic Pesonel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam) and foreign language proficiency test (UDS, etc.) .
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
To quality in the courses by• 40% - Midterm evaluations (exams, projects, papers, etc)• 60% - Final exams, homework and projects. Graduate thesis has to be evaluated satisfactory by the academic jury.

Facilities
In our department there are 1 professor, 1 associate professor, 4 research assistants, 3 of whom has PhD degree and 1 is going on her PhD thesis. There is equipment necessary for the Microbiology laboratory (autoclave, Pasteur’s furnace, centrifuge, water bath, microscope, etc. devices) and also 7 computers connected to Internet . Each year, master's and PhD programs are opened in our department and there are 2 master’s sudents at course stage and PhD student doing her thesis at progress.
