History
The Public Health Nursing master’s program with thesis at the Institute of Health Sciences, began accepting students effective from the academic year 1994-1995. The program aims to develop qualified specialist nurses in order to enhance the dissemination of clinical public health services in our country. In addition, the program includes preparatory work for the Ph.D. program through which new academicians of Public Health Nursing are produced.

Specific Admission Requirements
Being graduated from Faculty of Public Health Nursing, to score at least 60 points (quantative field) at the ALES Exam (Akademik Personel ve Lisansüstü Eğitimi Giriş Sınavı - Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam), to be successful at the Scientific Assessment and the interview.
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
According to the Higher Education Legislation formal education is performed. Students enrolled in the nursing graduate programs of other universities’ may apply for transfers. In the case the student is enrolled in a graduate program at our University, which of the courses the student has taken while enrolled in a graduate program at another university, would be considered to be of the minimum course load will be decided upon the proposal of the supervisor and the relevant Department Board; and the approval of the Institute's Board of Directors.

Profile of The Programme
This program, is structured to introduce the enrolled student to advanced concepts, original research areas, research techniques and current education and training applications regarding public health nursing and public health; as well as to allow the students undertake a research project that will contribute to their academic development, and to contribute to the education of new specialists while preparing them for the doctoral level of education.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
As academic staff at national and international higher education institutions, as home care nurses and health education nurses at hospitals of the Ministry of Health, as family nurses at the community health setting, as school nurses at school and public health nurses at other primary care settings.
Access to Further Studies
Upon successful completion of a master's degree, graduates may apply to doctoral programs in their fields or in multi-disciplinary areas provided that they scored enough points at the ALES test and have English language competency; and are accepted if they are successful in the interview.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
In general, 40% of in-year assessments (mid-term exams, assignments, hospital practices, 60% of year-end assessments (final exam, assignments, projects, etc.); and the master’s thesis of the student should be considered as successful by the academic jury.
Graduation Requirements
To successfully complete the courses (at least 21 credits) and communnith health practices; and to successfully defend their master’s thesis in front of the jury; and to score at least an average of 2.5 (over 4)

Facilities
The program will enable interaction at national and international levels in order to reinforce the education and training of the students. Cooperation with foreign universities and research organizations on the basis of student exchange will be supported.

1 Identify concepts of community health nursing.
2 Differentiate between the application the three levels of prevention in relation to individual, family, and community health.
3 Implement a family-centered plan of care based on the needs identified during home visits.
4 Evaluation the role of the community health nurse the different health settings.
5 Utilize the available community resources effectively in order to provide holistic nursing care to individuals, families, or groups.
6 Apply the nursing process to individual, families and community health in all levels of prevention
7 Discover common health problems and or needs of individuals, families, and or community in Turkey.
8 Apply interpersonal communication and ethics in caring for clients at community settings.
9 Apply problem solving skills at different situation faced at different community setting.
10 Demonstrate responsibility, accountability, and leadership abilities, while working with individuals in community setting.
11 Act as a change agent in community health.
