Masters degree program in 1998.
Qualification Awarded
The graduates of the program are entitled to use the title “M. Sc.”
Specific Admission Requirements
The candidates are required to have a bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields: Medicine, pharmacy, law and dentistry. Other admission requirements are the same with those outlined in the Marmara University’s Regulation on Graduate / Post-Graduate Education, Training and Evaluation enacted in 2004 and the relevant amendments made thereafter.
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
Adayın tıp, diş hekimliği, eczacılık veya hukuk fakültesi lisans diploması olması tıp tarihi ve alanında yüksek lisans diploması olması gerekmektedir.

Profile of The Programme
The program aims to graduate individuals who can be employed in the medical ethics and history of medicine departments of any faculty of medicine in Turkey, as well as in various administrative positions in the public and private sector health care institutions and their ethics committees.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Two of the graduates of the master of science program have later pursued a doctoral degree and both are now employed as academics in faculties of medicine.
Access to Further Studies
Graduates of the master of science program may pursue a doctoral degree afterwards.

Graduation Requirements
The candidate must be able to defend his/her thesis in front of a jury of scholars; the thesis must be approved by the jury.

Key Learning Outcomes ^
1 To possess the theoretical knowledge required to write an article on history of medicine.
2 To acquire the abilities necessary to give lectures at the undergraduate level on history of medicine.
3 To possess the theoretical knowledge required to write an article on medical ethics and bioethics.
4 To acquire the abilities necessary to give lectures at the undergraduate level on medical ethics and bioethics.
5 To acquire the ability to follow the new developments and publications in medical ethics and bioethics.
6 To acquire the ability to utilize the theoretical knowledge in bioethics at the level required to serve as a member of local research ethics committeees.
7 To acquire the ability to utilize the theoretical knowledge in medical ethics and clinical ethics at the level required to serve as a member of hospital ethics committeees.
8 To acquire the ability to utilize the theoretical knowledge in medical ethics and clinical ethics at the level required to provide clinical ethics consultation service.
9 To acquire the ability to perform multi-disciplinary research with other academicians in the health care sciemces and social sciences.
10 To acquire the ability to contribute to the process of development of ethical health care policies in the national context
