General Description ^
Audiology and Language Disorders master' s program with thesis in Institute of Health Sciences has been established in 1991-1992. The program aims to spread out the audiology services through out the country and to educate and graduate qualified audiologists.
Qualification Awarded
Master’s Degree in “audiology” is awarded to the graduates who have successfully fulfilled all programme requirements.
Specific Admission Requirements
1. To be graduated from psychology, guidance and psychological counselling or physiotherapy and rehabilitation. 2. To have minimum 60 points from the Academic Staff and Graduate Study Education Exam (ALES) conducted by Student Selection and Placement Center (OSYM) 3. To be successful at the interview.
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
Formal learning is applied according to regulations in Marmara University's Graduate education. A student who is currently enrolled in a Master's Degree programme in the same discipline at another institution and has successfully completed at least one semester, may be admitted to the Master's Programme at Marmara University through horizontal transfer. The courses the student while enrolled in a graduate program at another university, then a graduate program at the University which records the minimum course load is considered to be the case, the consultant and the relevant Department and the Institute's Board of Directors with the approval of the proposal determined by the Board.
Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Following a scientific preparatory year ,the program consists of at least seven courses not less than totally 21 credits, one seminar course and the master thesis Project. Graduate curriculum consists of compulsory and elective courses. Total ACTS credit of program is 60. One successfully completed the courses and practicals, prepared Master's thesis and defended in front of the jury, has provided at least 2.5 grade point average are eligible to receive "Master of Science" degree.
Profile of The Programme
This program, is structured to introduce the enrolled student to basic concepts, original research areas, research techniques and current education and training applications regarding audiology; as well as to allow the students undertake a research project that will contribute to their academic development, and to contribute to the education of new specialists while preparing them for the doctoral level of education
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Graduate students may be employed at the universities as academic personal or as an audiologist with master’s degree. They have a chance of employment in private and public hospitals, hearing aid and cochlear implant centers.
Access to Further Studies
Upon successful completion of a master's degree, graduates may apply to Ph.D. programs in audiology, they are accepted if become successful in the exam and interview.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Generally %40 of Semester (year) Learning Activities (Midterm Exam, homework, project etc.), %60 of Final Examination (final exam, homewrok, project etc.), prepared thesis must be found successful by the academic jury
Graduation Requirements
To complete the preparatory class courses of 26 credits with success. After the preparaory class, to complete at least seven courses not less than totally 21 credits, one seminar course and the master thesis Project. To provide at least 2.5 grade point average To defend successfully the prepared master’s thesis in front of the jury.

Managers of the department collaborate with foreign universities and research centers and support students for exchange programs.The department has the necessary equipment and experience to conduct clinical studies.
