History
This program has been performing within the structure of Marmara University Institute of Social Sciences since 1988.
Qualification Awarded
Students who graduate this program have an econometrics master's degree and can be named as expert.
Specific Admission Requirements
There is the condition of being graduated from a four-year degree programs. In addition to this, ALES score should be at least 60. The candidates must participate to all the exams and interviews announced by the department of operations research.
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
Candidates who have applied to different areas of post-graduate from their bachelor's program, the scientific preparatory program are determined by the Department and the Institute Management Board.
Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Graduate study program consists of compulsory and elective courses. The students must take the grade of at least 65 out of 100 for being successful from the course and must write a thesis in accordance with the spelling rules of the Institute of Social Sciences. Thesis have to be oral defended to the jury and must be successful.
Profile of The Programme
Giving the first year course content, in the second year thesis research (and the students' course reps) is done. Lessons are given in the classroom and computer laboratory.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
The graduated students can work at the government bodies such as Turkish Statistical Instute, Government Planning Organization, The Undersecretariat Turkish Treasury and Central Bank in addition to this insurance, banking, capital market being the first place they can also work at the research & development, marketing research, planning and budgeting departments of multi-specialist public and private companies.
Access to Further Studies
Possible to continue the Operations Research PhD Program and branches of doctoral programs in social sciences.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Students enrolled in master's program in operations research must participate a midterm and a final exam necessarily. Faculty members can give homework during the semester. Midterm grades contribute to the success score of 40%, while the contribution of the final exam grade is 60% to the overall success.
Graduation Requirements
Students must be successful from all of the courses taken within the program and should be 2.5 grade point average out of 4.
