History
The Koranic Commentary at the Institute of Social Sciens at Marmara University was founded in 1983. The Geography Section had been began to Post-Graduate education in 1983-1984.

Master (with thesis) (M.S).

Profile of The Programme
The curriculum consists of various courses of major branches of tafseer (....................................). Each student is obliged to perform a thesis about branches of tafseer Graduate degrees (M.S) are offered by the academic personnel of the tafseer department of Faculty divinity at Marmara University
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
The graduates who have also completed the pedagogical courses have found jobs in the field of education as religions teachers. The graduates have found positions in state foundations and in positions as teaching and research assistants in distinguished universities of Turkey.
Access to Further Studies
Graduate degrees (Ph.D) are offered by the tafseer Department in its three programs through the Institute for Graduate Studies in Social Sciences,
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
At least one mid-term grade is given for each course, in respect to the program's semester/year basis. This may either be given according to a written and/or oral examination or the evaluation of a dissertation and /or the student's participation in courses. Final examination is held within the announced time period of the academic calendar. To be respected as successful in a course, a student must; a)Receive a grade of at least 65/100 at final or examination. b)Receive a final grade of at least 65/100. The effect of mid-term examination, grade on final grade is 40%.
Graduation Requirements
Students must attend and pass the examination of the classes they have elected. Their written thesis must be defended before a jury.

1 Students understand basic tafseers' texts.
2 Students use the concepts of the tafseer correctly.
3 Students analyse the historical development of the tafseer's sciences.
4 Students compare between the previous tafseer problems and the current tafseer's problems.
5 Students gain the ability of doing research in the tafseer's literature.
6 Students become educational samples.
7 Students are aware of the research which has been written in the tafseer field.
8 Students gain the ability of reading, translating and interpreting any texts of the tafseer.
9 Students can use their reservoir of Islamic knowledge in other Islamic fields.
