History
The Recitation of the Qur’ân and the Variant Readings of the Qur’ân Section at the Institute of Social Sciences at Marmara University was founded in 2012.
Qualification Awarded
The specialist of the variant readings of the Qur'an.

Bachelor diploma, Academic Personnel and the Higher Education Graduate Entry Exam (A-Les)
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
Applicants must have a degree from an university faculty or the an approved equivalent.

Profile of The Programme
The curriculum consists of various courses of major branches of The Recitation of the Qur’ân and the Variant Readings of the Qur’ân (The Sources of the Qiraat, the concept of the Qiraat, the Mutawatir Qiraat sand their Methods etc). Each student is obliged to perform a thesis about branches of The Recitation of the Qur’ân and the Variant Readings of the Qur’ân. The courses are leaded by the academic personnel of The Recitation of the Qur’ân and the Variant Readings of the Qur’ân Department of Faculty of Theology at Marmara University.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
The graduates who have also completed the pedagogical courses can find jobs in the field of education as religious education teachers. The graduates can also find positions in Presidency of Religious Affairs. They can find academic positions in universities as well.
Access to Further Studies
The graduates can apply for doctoral degrees to The Institute of Social Sciences at Marmara University.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
At least one mid-term grade is given for each course, in respect to the program's semester/year basis. This may either be given according to a written and/or oral examination or the evaluation of a dissertation and /or the student's participation in courses. Final examination is held within the announced time period of the academic calendar. To be respected as successful in a course, a student must; a)Receive a grade of at least 65/100 at final or examination. b)Receive a final grade of at least 65/100. The effect of mid-term examination, grade on final grade is 40%.
Graduation Requirements
Students must attend and pass the examination of the classes they have elected. To graduate from the master's program, the final average of the students' grades has to be minimum 2.50 out of 4. Their written thesis must be defended before a jury.
