Objectives of the Course
Examine the structure of German grammar, use the German language in accordance with the rules of German grammar

Learning Outcomes
1 The student can analyse different structures of a sentence.
2 The student has the ability to transform a German subordinate clause into a main clause or vice-versa.
3 The student can propose alternatives for conjunctions in a German sentence.
4 The student has information about German conjunctions and can explain their meanings and functions.
5 The student is able to explain the differences between a German main clause and a subordinate clause with examples.
6 Students will have detailed information of the position of the verb in a sentence, and of parts of a sentence that are dependent on it.

Course Contents
This course deals with the structure of the German grammar and treats passive voice, verbs with prepositions, types of sentences, sentence constructions and conjunctions and the semantic characteristics of conjunctions. The rules of the German grammar will be researched and exercises for the application of these rules will also be done.

6 General introduction to types of sentences, conjunctions of main clauses at position '0', semantic characteristics
7 Conjunctions of main clauses at position '1'
8 Midterm
9 Special semantic qualities of conjunctions of main clauses at position '1'
10 General introduction to conjunctions of subordinate clauses and semantic characteristics, temporal subordinate clauses
11 Temporal subordinate clauses, transformation into main clauses
12 Causal subordinate clauses, transformation into main clauses, conditional subordinate clauses
13 Consecutive subordinate clauses, transformation into main clauses
14 Concessive subordinate clauses, transformation into main clauses
15 Final clauses and infinitive constructions
